Hello,
I was hoping to get some guidance here.
Recently, I've purchased this http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003OC6LWM/ref=oh_o00_s00_i00_details
and this

My goal is to hook up my MBP to my HDTV. Because my TV is a bit older, it only has one HDMI port, hence the need for the splitter.
I've read reviews for the MiniDisplay to HDMI cord that people couldn't get sound to work. I ran into this issue as well. I've gone to "Audio" under system preferences and then selected the HDMI device but I still cannot get sound. I get sound through the MBP speakers when I select the other option, "Internal". I thought I might be the TV, because it is too old, but I have a PS3 hooked up to one of the other HDMI ports on the splitter and sound works fine.
Any ideas to what is going on? Worst case scenario is that I can plug in a pair of speakers to the MBP to amplify sound.
Thanks.
