Connecting a 2008 Black Mac Book to an LG 32lh20 HDTV

Hey Guys,

I am hoping someone can help me with this...
So I bought a mini-dvi to hdmi adapter from amazon and connected that to an Hdmi cable and connected that to the HDTV and my VISUAL WORKS, however everyone know that mini-DVI doesn;t carry sound.

So I bought a mini toslink to toslink cable to get my sound to work and plugged this into Digital Audio port.

My problem is that even with this stuff my sound doesn't work.

Is it possinle the the tv isn't picking up the sound because of the HDMI already there??

Can someone help me??
