I Have decided to get a 5K monitor for My Mac Studio. I have a connection question. As you may know My MS is part of a home theater system. its HDMI cable in plugged into My Yamaha AVR which can do 4K. It handles the sound and video. 5K monitors, at least the LG, and Apple use the Thunderbolt connection. Samsungs 5K monitors don't they have the usual DP, HDMI, and USB inputs. The Samsungs are ultra wide curved monitors and are too big to fit where I want this monitor to go. 32" is the upper limit the will fit at the radio station. This monitor will also be used as a external display for my amatuer radio's. There are numerous USB C to HDMI adapters that are supposed to do this. Not really interested in another dongle hanging around. I am looking at the OWC Thunderbolt 3 Pro Dock. I have one question about it. You first plug one of the thunderbolt outputs from the MS into it. It has an Displayport connection that is intended to go directly to a monitor. Is there any reason why, instead I couldn't plug OWC's Display Port I/O into my Yamaha's HDMI input as the MS is right now. Than as it is now the Yamaha is connected to my Monitor using an HDMI to Thunderbolt/USB-C cable. This setup allows for easy switching between my Mac Studio, The PC, The Apple TV, My radios, The Yamaha's AirPlay, and its excellent Net Radio. I have never used the Yamaha's AM/FM receiver.
