Hi guys,

I could use some help.

I am looking to acquire a 23" ACD apple display from someone locally and I understand there are some connection compatibility issues. What can you guys tell me about how I might connect these two items together flawlessly? I'd hope someone with experience with these exact models would be able to chime in on this, as I have heard it's a REAL pain!

Thanks very much!

Which 23" Cinema Display? If it's the aluminum one, then all you need is the mini DisplayPort to DVI adapter, like the other poster mentioned.

If it's the acrylic one, you'll need an ADC-DVI converter and the DP-DVI adapter.

It's the very last model, before the current one. It's, I guess aluminum. 23" Apple cinema display.

There is no current 23" display. There were two 23" Apple Cinema HD Displays, the first being acrylic with a three-leg stand and an ADC connector (model M8536), and the second being aluminum with the L-shaped base with a DVI connector (model A1082). Both are full HD, 1920x1200 displays.

It seems pretty clear that you've got the aluminum one, but for the sake of future search results, it's important to note the distinction.

Does anyone know if this is generally carried in store by the Apple store or best buy?

is it possilble to get a DVI t- mini displayport to connect the current ACD's to a macbook pro with a dvi connector?

No, not in a way that makes any sense.

You can buy an active adapter: http://estore.circuitassembly.com/products/DVI-to-Mini-Displayport-Adapter.html

But you might as well just buy a DVI monitor. For $1000, you can do better than the 24" ACD and still come out $20+shipping cheaper than the ACD+active adapter. The 23" displays match your MBP better, anyway, and you can get them new for $600ish if you look around.
