connecting airport express to "n" router

I have and "n" standard airport express and an "n" standard wrt300n linksys wireless router. The airport express will not client onto the linksys unless I switch the linksys to mixed wireless rather than pure "n" signal. Even if I switch the linksys to pure "g" signal it wont connect.... Any thoughts would be appriciated!
