Connecting an External Monitor to a 17" Macbook Pro

Hi, I'm new to the forum and just have a quick question re using an external monitor with my Macbook Pro. I have a 17" Macbook Pro 5,3 (purchased new Aug 2009) and want to connect an NEC PA241W external monitor to it. Does anyone know what the best way is to do this? Thanks

Mini displayport to displayport
Mini displayport to dvi
Mini displayport to VGA

In that order depending on the inputs available on your monitor.
