Hi there,

I bought a cheap LCD tv for my bedroom to hook up my macbook to in order to watch movies that I downloaded from itunes, however I'm having some issues.

I have an old macbook (bought in 2007) and I was told I needed a DVI-VGA adapter and a VGA-VGA cable. I bought those and hooked them up, however nothing is happening. My tv just shows no signal no matter what output I put it on and my macbook isn't doing anything either.

I have to admit I'm not very macbook literate as I've always had PC's and when that crashed, I just bought this mac off a friend. I've googled to see if I can find anything to help me, and the only kind of help I found was someone mentioned to click on "detect display". I did that and again, nothing happened.

Any thoughts?

Can this help?
How to: Connect a MacBook, MacBook Air, or MacBook Pro to a TV

Have you selected the proper channel on the TV for the VGA input?
You are using the Mini DVI to VGA adapter, aren't you? If so, which brand?
Mini DVI
Mini DVI is a digital common interface on the later G4 12" PowerBook, on Intel iMacs till 2009 and on the white and black pre-Unibody MacBooks and on Intel Mac minis before they changed the design to Unibody.
