Hello,

I want to use a mac on my airport extreme (round type not square) network as a web server. I've previously used a Lynksys router to assign an ip address to mac computer so that it is 'visible' to the world with no problem. When I use the airport as the router I am required to use an address between (192.168.1.)201 and 255 (where 1-199 are assigned via DHCP). So far, so good - however, when I try to manually set the ip address of the networked computer to (192.168.1.)201, for example, I lose all connectivity to the internet - until I reactivate DHCP. This happens even if I use manual addressing with the same address as is assigned by DHCP (192.168.1.3) or if I use manual addressing with DHCP, (one of the other options). The airport software will not allow me to make 192.168.1.3 visible - forcing me to pick an address >200 - but how can I successfully set the compute to adopt this ip address?

What am doing wrong?

Many Thanks for any help!

Dave
