Connecting external hard drives to wireless router

I would like to reposition my Linksys wireless router to a more 'optimal' position within my house which will mean it is away from the office/ computer. I would really like to attach my 3 Maxtor hard drives via a network connection to this router in order to reach them from multiple computers with ease. Any ideas? Do I need a server?
