So, here's my thing...
I'm a computer nerd and a freelance IT guy...my main computer is an iMac running Lion with the latest updates. Because I'm a nerd and freelance IT guy, I have a couple of extra computers that I have no room for but still need for various reasons, particularly an old Dell running the 32-bit Ubuntu 12.04 LTS.
Now, my desk is very short on room because I have that computer's monitor on my desk, and of course I have to use the keyboard and trackball for that computer...but I'd like to consolidate everything by just remotely connecting to the Ubuntu machine on my iMac.
I tried various things, including Chicken of the VNC, VNC Viewer, etc., but the problem is that it's just too slow; both are connected wirelessly to the Internet...but I'm thinking, why not run an Ethernet cable between my iMac and the Ubuntu box??
Is it possible to connect that way without spending, say, more than $5 on software?
