I want to connect the internet & airport extreme base station (AEBS) to my switched ethernet network. I want all devices hooked to the switch to have ethernet internet & also have the ability to have wireless internet for visiting laptops.
About my network. I currently have a gigabit ethernet network using netgear switch gs116. It is a self-managed switch and auto-detects input. All devices (3 mac computers, 2 printers, and soon to be xserve raid) are connected to the switch and have manual IP addresses b/c I thought that was the easiest way to netowork all the computers. It has worked well for me this way but when I try to introduce the internet and AEBS into the switch I am not able to get the functionality I hoped for. I cannot get the internet or AEBS to work right.
Can someone please advice the best setup for the internet and AEBS without disrupting my network. I am open to reconfiguring my network to make it all work. I just need the speed and function of the gigabit network to remain the same.
