connecting iphone 3gs to a new computer?

Hi im a bit of a noob but if i connect my iphone 3gs to a new computer will i lose my contacts on my phone or will it sync everything else except for the music and video?

It's kind of a pain in the ass. I attempted it a few times with my home and work computers, and it was too much of a hassle. I keep all my contacts synced through gmail, so those will stay on the phone regardless of how many computers you want to sync with.
