Connecting Mac to HDTV

I recently upgraded to lion on my MBPro and was trying to connect my tv to the laptop with the mini display port to HDMI.

It worked perfectly as i had mirrored displays when i had snow leopard and i changed the resolution to 1080i. I was fiddling around and unchecked mirror display.

Now when i connect my laptop the Tv screen is black and my laptop only has the space background not even a dock or mouse cursor.

I am really stuck and would appreciate help,

Your pro. Then check the display settings in system preferences Then re-connected your MBP and post back
