I am hoping that someone can help me. My roommate bought the Sony KP-57 rear projection HDTV from a friend. It's slightly older but it has an input in the back that says DVI-HDTV IN. It is a 24-pin input (3 rows of 8). I have a MacBook with a Mini DisplayPort. I went to Best Buy and they had me buy the following:

One (1) Mini DisplayPort to DVI Adapter (made by Apple)
One (1) Single Link DVI-D Digital Video Cable (made by Dynex)
One (1) Stereo Mini to RCA "Y" Cable (made by Dynex)

I connected everything and I get sound on one of the video input channels, however, I do NOT get video. I tried changing the video display on my MacBook to every option and still nothing.

I'm concerned because the DVI cable does not have 24 pins. It fits but only has 18 pins.

I don't know what to do. Please help.

Thank you.

Joe

DVI-I - analog + digital
DVI-D - digital
DVI-A - analog

Understanding the DVI Connector and Video Cable

Maybe the DVI cable is transmitting an analog signal, something the adapter you use does not include.
Have you taken a look inside the TV's manual and if it accepts digital signals?
