I want to hook up my MacPro TOWER to a Samsung,LNT4671F, 46 inch HD 120 Hz tv. is that a good idea. What are the pros and cons to this idea,

Yes it will work fine @1920x1080 you will need a dvi to hdmi adapter or a cable. On the samsung you will want to set the tv too full scan. that is 1:1 pixel mapping otherwise you will have overscan and wont see the edges of the desktop.
