Connecting My 24" Imac to my 52 Sharp Aquos LCD

I have a 24" Imac, Mini DVI to HDMI Converter and HDMI cable running to my 1080P LCD. I am getting a red and black back ground and the same fuzz is showing in any dark images displayed on my TV. Any way to get a clear picture on my tv.

I tried a few different selections in the Displays menu as far as resolutions and mirroring displays but no luck. Any help would be much appreciated.

Did you set it up to use a external monitor. or did you just plug it in?

I plugged in both ends, one to tv and one to mac and I get the image on my tv, whether i do mirrored display or any other orientation. I just can't get rid of the red/black static corrupting all the dark imagery.
