Have a Netgear WGT634U that I purchased spring 05, but never used. Am now trying to connect to my laptop Powerbook. No luck. I'm told that the Netgear is a "g" and I need a "b," --and then told that this should work...

am basically a computer novice... any suggestions?

It should work. Do you know if your PowerBook has AirPort? How old is it? :)

If you do have AirPort, go to your Network preferences (within System Preferences) and make sure the tick box is checked for the menu bar. Now, turn AirPort on from that menu bar, select your local network. I can't really help anymore until I know a bit more about your network's security settings. Does it need a password?
