I have an old iMac and an even older Performa 6200. The iMac has a network connection (connected to the internet via my home net) and an unused modem port. The Performa only has a modem port.

Is there any way I can link these via a twisted RJ-11 cable to act as a modem connection from the Performa... Possibly by setting up the iMac as a host some how?

Set them for the highest common baud rate between the two, disable the dial tone check and ATDT <nothng> or just ATDT1 and then ATA on the other modem, they will connect over just a cable between the two of them, at a "perfect" rate.

Use ZModem, whatever .. to transfer files.

Do this using "terminal mode" on ZTerm or whatever you choose for a terminal application.
