Connecting Ribbon on 1.8 Micro Drive...

I'm trying to install a larger GB HDD in my first model 2008 MacBook Air. They take 1.8 micro drives. I have no experience with these drives. The ribbon cable connectors are very tiny and flimsy, I can't tell which way the cable goes in. There doesn't seem to be any difference between right side up and upside down. I don't remember which way it goes when I disconnected the old one. It seems to fit either way. Nothing in the connection to keep you from trying to push it in the right way. I'm not even sure I'm inserting it correctly whichever side I try. It won't recognize the drive. Does anyone have any advice?
