I was wondering if anyone has experienced a similar issue or have a solution.

I have two Macs at home, a MBP and MBA and they both suffer the same problem. I use a independent server running Windows Server 2008 Enterprise as a file server. The Macs happily connect to it and I can use files, but 1/5 times when I have to connect it will just say "connecting..." and never connect. This is usually after a couple sleep and wake ups from closing and opening the laptop.

I found these is nothing I could do to fix it, unplugging network reconnecting, closing the lid and reopening etc the only solution is to restart. To make it worse, when I have to resort to restarting it doesnt restart, I have a feeling its waiting for the network to connect so I have to hold down the power button in order to restart it. Once restarted it connects perfectly again.

This happen in Leopard and now with Snow Leopard as well. Using Ethernet or Wifi made no difference.
My PC has no issues with it at all so it might be OS X not playing nice with Windows server?

Anyone have any suggestions or solutions?

thanks,
