Connecting speakers to MBP

Basically i have some really nice big speakers which i would love to use to with my macbook however they have speaker cables attached to them like the ones you put into a cd player which is what i used to do until my cd player fried!

Is there anyway i can connect my speakers to the macbook? any adapters? or do you have to buy a cd player and connect that to the macbook using a AUX?

Do you mean that it has left and right plugs (red and white)?

If you do you can pick up a simple adapter, shouldn't be too expensive.
