Hey guys im kinda new to this forum but i have one problem that will save me alot of money if you can help me out.

Well the problem is that i have an Akai MPC 1000 which has a stereo output that i want to record into Garage band.

I have opened the system preferences and it seems to pick up the signal (i press the pads and the signal is coming into the mac since i see the bars going up), although its not actually coming out of the audio out (my speakers arnt picking it up)

So in general..

MPC (stereo output) -> MAC (audio input with an RCA to 3.5mm jack)

Ive heard i might have to buy a mixer, or could i just use my dj mixer, or do i need an audio interface? But they are all very expensive!

Any thoughts guys? or is there a simpler way of doing it? Thanks.

Have you got the "Playthrough" box ticked. I think it's somewhere in the GB Prefs.

Select the track, and press Command + I if the 'Track Info' pane isn't already open on the right. Then make sure the MONITOR box is checked to YES.

That's the one. I'm not near my Mac, hence the errors.

Cheers for clearing that up Killyp.
