Hey everyone. I have a macbook pro 13" and have just bought a hdtv. (From Tesco but it was fairly cheap - either way its still a hdtv). I have got the mini DVI to DVI and a DVI to HDMI. (So I have an adapter, then a cable). When I go on the HD channel I get a blue screen saying 'no signal.' My macbook picks up the TV in the system preferences > displays. I can provide screen shots or whatever if needed. Thanks in advance Charlie. :apple:

The cabling is probably working if the Mac recognizes the TV, so presumably that's not the problem (though it could theoretically be something about the signal that the TV doesn't like--you could try selecting "720p" or some other options at random in the Displays pref to make sure). The most obvious thing would be to make sure that you're actually looking at the correct input--there could be more than one HDMI input on the TV and/or it could be looking at component inputs rather than HDMI. Double check that (heck, cycle through every available input just to confirm that it's not somewhere you didn't expect it to show up) to start with.

It may also help us help you if you let us know the exact model of the TV.

Thanks a lot for the reply, I came downstairs and used it on my main tele. This one is a panasonic model. Plugged it in and it works. With a bit of tinkering everything was perfect. Tomorrow I will take some photos and things of my new tele - this should find a solution easier. (I hope!) :apple:

http://direct.tesco.com/q/R.207-2229.aspx - this is the actual tv and with the specs!

Its got to be the wires? (with sexy pics!)

So i buy a new hdtv. I buy a mini dvi to dvi cable. I buy a dvi to hdmi cable. I plug it in and nothing. I try it downstairs on a different tele and it works. So I exchange the tele. Works once but doesn't work again. So I try it downstairs and it doesn't work till I fiddle with the wires and get a picture. I get no picutre on new tele but the mac picks it up  Tell me whats wrong people!:apple:  ;) Picture of desktop is showing what my mac is saying about the display. Meanwhile my tele has other ideas.
