Connecting to a networked computer w/o entering a password

I have two Panther (10.3.9) iMac computers that are networked.
When I want to access one from the other is it possible to have the user name and password remembered so that I don't need to enter it each time?

Would this be more possible if I wanted to access a Leopard or Tiger computer from a Panther computer or vice versa?

the first time you connect with your username and password there will be an option to remember the user name and password. check it. once the network drive is attached, drag it to your dock. Next time you want to connect, just click the dock icon.

works equally well in tiger and Leopard and in between.
