Connecting to an old 17'' monitor, will these cables work?

Hi, I'm trying to do dual monitors with my macbook pro with mini diaplay port, will these following cables do the trick for me?

1. mini diaplay port to HDMI

Thank you for your assistance! As to why not get a direct Mini-Display Port Adapter. Well,

1. It costs more
2. I might get a new monitor soon which has HDMI, so it will be nice to have the Mini-DisplayPort to HDMI cable.

EDIT: Wait, It says: "Cable transmit video signals up to 1024 x 768 pixel resolution", does this mean, I won't be able to get the full resolution of my monitor???
