So - I am trying to create a connection from my MacAir to my MacPro.
When both computers are connected to the LAN there is no problem. On the MacAir I can see the MacPro, access its files, share/stream iTunes, etc.
What I need to do is be able to do this when the MacAir is off-site. So, I use Terminal to create ss:
--> ssh -p 22 Username@Modem_IP_Address
It prompts for password - entered - all good.
However, in Finder I cannot see the MacPro. I cannot use any GUI to see the MacPro. In terminal I can ls and see the directories.
I have a cable modem coupled to a Netgear FVG318 wired/wireless router. I have port forwarding set on the router for port 22 to go to the Macpro.
Any suggestion? I am a complete newbie on ssh and terminal so a lot of this is new.
And - if this is the wrong subforum - then please move.
