Connecting to shared folder on PC -- hit or miss

I'm having some issues accessing a shared drive on my PC from my MBP. I try accessing the drive by the "Connect to server" option in finder..and it works sometimes..I'd say anywhere from 30-50% of the time. If I restart my MBP and try again usually connects right away. Also, I am connecting using the name of the PC, not the IP, so I know that is not the issue. Even when using the PCs IP it doesn't work. It's odd because using the remote desktop connection works almost all the time, and accessing that same shared drive from another PC works.

Any help is appreciated.
