connecting to the internet via wifi using windows xp/vista?

so my gf just put xp on her computer the other day for class. The only problem right now, from what i can see, is that xp is not picking up Airport. Can anyone help me figure this out. It basically says no wirless card available.

i had the same problem with vista but i put the disk in and it worked
