Connecting Yamaha YPT-300 to MacHD

I am trying to connect my yamaha to my mac and having some trouble and do not know how to fix it. I have a yamaha YPT-300 with MIDI output. I have a mio MIDI to USB adapter and have already downloaded the yamaha driver for my mac version 10.8.5. But no matter what I do I cannot get my computer to recognize my keyboard. When I open the Yamaha USB-MIDI control panel there is nothing in the drop down box to choose from to recognize my keyboard. Any suggestions? Im getting frustrated lol
