Hi all, I have a setup at home where I have a G4 with Leopard server on it, this runs a VPN so that I can connect back into my home network. Within my Network I have a Mac Pro 5,1 that is used a multimedia server, it is running MacOS Sequoia through OCLP. The weird issue I am having is when on my Mac Pro I can connect to my server through the network tab in Finder however when I try and do the same from my G4 to the Mac Pro I get a figure to connect. I understand that leopard uses SMB1 and that this may be the issue but I would have thought that would cause the connection to fail in both directions. TIA

"... I get a figure to connect." .. not following. You are unable to connect, or you are able to connect?

samba3 and samba4 should build and work on 10.5+, if that can solve your issue.

I get a failure to connect
So you see the server, and get prompted to connect...but the connection fails.

I would second this. Most likely a protocol mismatch due to age/versions...you need a protocol that both platforms support (the native SMB flavor on the server is too old).

Hi so I have installed Macports and installed samba 4 on both client and server however I still can't connect is there some other settings changes I need to do to get them to communicate using samba 4? thanks
