Hi there,

I was just wondering if there is a way to connect a MacbookPro to a TV?
Basically I want to watch my online News or TV on a bigger screen.
I don't have LCD or Plasma, my TV is a rear projection one and I do have a SET TOP BOX which connected to it.

If there is a way in order to connect them what I need?

Thanks very much in advance to anyone who can help.

Yes. You just need to buy an adapter. What adapter you get depends on

1) What model of MacBook Pro you have.
2) What video inputs your TV has.
3) Whether you want to route audio through the TV as well.

Hi again,

I do have an early 2008 model and back of my TV just has regular inputs.
I do prefer route audio through the TV as well.
Just wondering if I could have the connection via my set top box or not. (back of my set top box has a HDMI socket)

Thanks again
Regards
Cyrus

I have an early 2008 (manufactured in September 08') and i bought a DVi>HDMI cable from monoprice.com for like $6. The problem is that my TV doesn't have optical in, so i cannot use the toslink cable i bought:( Even the Panasonic TVs at Apple don't have optical in either, kinda funny. I just bought a long 3.5 male to male and use that to connect to my TV for sound. Not a huge deal, and not worth buying a new TV over it. I bought an eternal HD monitor and have speakers, so i actually use that more than the TV..
