Have Macbook Air with broken screen and important data on it.
I wonder, if its possible to connect external monitor without using Air screen?

like other people said you can use screen sharing. you can also use an external video display. but whatever you do , don't enable filevault. file vault requires the primary display working so u can type your password , and also won't work with screen sharing.

a work around is to open terminal and type
sudo fdsetup authrestart when you want to shutdown or turn off filevault
