Hi guys,

I'm writing this thread because I have severe issues with the connectivity of my Eve Flare which I use with the Eve app and the Apple Home app.

Just some info: The Flare doesn't connect over WiFi. Instead it connects over Bluetooth Low Energy.
The setup: Apple TV is next to my TV and about 1 m away is the Flare.

Whenever I'm about 1-2 m away from the Flare with my iPhone I have no problems whatsoever controlling the Flare.

But: Whenever I'm more meters away (even just about 4-5 m with direct line of sight to the Flare) I most often can't control the light at all. I would assume (and the support also confirmed this) that the Flare either connects
a) to the iPhone or
b) to the Apple TV when you're farer away.

So maybe the issue is related to the connection "Flare <--> Apple TV" (even though I would assume that even my iPhone should have a direct connection to the Flare when I'm just a few meters away with no obstacles in between).

I already re-paired the light 3 times over the course of the last few months but that didn't help. What's also strange is that when I got the light last year I pretty much didn't have this issue at all. It's like this problem magically appeared ;-) If anyone has any idea on how to solve this issue I would be very grateful.

Thanks in advance and best wishes
Chris

Yes, it does and I also restarted everything :(

I also asked the Eve support about this issue and once anything useful comes out I will let you guys know.

Two more things:

Can you control the Eve via the Siri remote on your ATV?

And, is your iPhone connected to WiFi?

Can you control the Eve via the Siri remote on your ATV?
No, that doesn't work. When I hold the siri button on the remote control and say something like "Activate scene Flare Sunset" the siri indicator thingy just moves left, right, left etc. for about 20 seconds and then the siri thingy disappears and nothing happened.

And, is your iPhone connected to WiFi?
Yup, it is.

Unfortunately the Eve Flare is the only HomeKit device I own so I can’t say if the problem lies in the Flare or in the Apple TV.
Yup, maybe re-adding it again will do the trick. Wish me luck :)

Okay, I just realized something. I don’t have Keychain enabled. Could that be the issue? Because I just read that Keychain would be required for HomeKit. But: If that is the case why does the Home app say that my Apple TV is set up as the home hub?

Edit: Oh my god, I can't believe this was really the solution! I just
- enabled Keychain on my iPhone
- unplugged the Flare
- powered up Apple TV from sleep mode
- restarted Apple TV
- Plugged the Flare back in
- Disabled and re-enabled the Apple TV as the home hub in the tvOS settings app

And now IT WORKS :D Controlling the Flare from another room, check. Controlling the Flare with the siri remote, check. So happy! But: Why on earth did Apple let me set up the Apple TV as the home hub in the first place without a pop-up of some sorts mentioning Keychain. Really can't understand that.

Still thank you so much for your troubleshooting.

Have a great day!
