I have a new iMac 2012 for some days now, and i'm wondering how to connect everything to have a likewise setup that i had with a MacbookPro and a Cinema Display before.
To be more clear i have made a configuration sketch of my situation.
So i have the iMac and i want to connect it to a 20" cinema display, that needs a DVI, USB2 and Firewire 400.
I have bought a Thunderbolt (mini display port) to DVI-adaptor and a Thunderbolt to Firewire 800 adaptor.
My biggest concern is when i get a Firewire 800 to 400 adaptor (like this one http://www.newertech.com/products/fw800400.php ) i won't have another Firewire 800 port for daisy chaning external hard drives like i used to do with the MacbookPro. (the big red exclamation mark)
So i found this little adaptor on the web, http://www.sonnettech.com/product/yinyang.html, turning a Firewire 800 into two Firewire ports (one 800, one 400).
Will this work as it should, keeping every connection solid?
I'm also wondering if there exists a Thunderbolt to Firewire 800 hub, who split one Thunderbolt port into multiple Firewire 800 ports.
Because if this graphic is correct, one thunderbolt port should have no problem with that. http://www.slmmedia.co.uk/image/data/thunderbolt_speed_graph.jpg
