When I bought my 2016 MBP I noticed that Apple doesn't make a DVI to Thunderbolt3 adapter. For the 2015 Apple had a DVI to mini display port adapter and I could use my Samsung montior which was adequate for office work but no LG 5000 K display.

I can by a third party adapter, but the Apple Store employee told me that these new machines will not drive a monitor with a DVI connection. It's not a great loss if this is true as the monitor is fairly old. But, like I said, it works ok for office use. Is there some technical reason that these new Macs won't work with my monitor even if I can find a third party adapter?

Can anyone recommend an reasonably priced monitor? The 4 and 5K ones are severe overkill for my use which is basically running a bunch of live stock charts.
