I am thinking of buying an Asus VH222Hto use as an External Screen, which comes with built in speakers.

How would I join this up to my Macbook Pro? I have the 13" 2009 model. I would like to avoid many cables going in and out of my Mac, so I was wondering if it were possible to have sound and video go through the same wire, or do I have to have a video wire out of the MiniDisplay port and a audio wire out of the audio port?

In the input output section is says the following

PC Input: DVI-D/D-Sub
PC Audio Input: 3.5mm Mini-jack
Video Input: HDMI
AV Audio Input: HDMI
Audio Output: SPDIF
Earphone jack: 3.5mm Mini-jack

If it is not possible to have only one cable, I would prefer to have wireless speakers.

Thanks in advance,
Patrick

Just did another search for "Mini DisplayPort to HDMI with audio" in google and found this:

http://www.amazon.com/DisplayPort-Adapter-female-Cable-Apple/dp/B0025V2VO0

It says it supports audio only if the source allows audio output through MDP. Assuming the LED ACD is capable of playing audio sent through the MDP connection, that should mean that Macs are capable of audio output through MDP. I can't be sure if this will actually work, but in theory it should. And it's only one cable...
