I think I bought a fake one of amazon. it works, but is there any cons of using it? will it damage the iphone?

p.s when will dev team release the unlock............................................

besides it being actually illegal? and yes, I mean actually illegal, not just violating ATT policy, but actual law of utilizing a call to an emergency number and hanging up to bypass the carrier lock

yea there's a huge debate about the whole 112 dialing thing. supposedly the new "Ultra's" don't require it anymore.

whats this gevey sim card exactly? I did research and what I got was that it unlocks your phone? Im traveling to where fido doesn't exist and it might be useful for me. Thanks.

It doesn't seem as if there is any difference between the fake and real gevey sims, I assume they work the same. I wouldn't worry about your phone being damaged. I would be more concerned about breaking the law with the gevey sim. Who knows when the dev team will release their unlock, it's been a number of months since their last iPhone 4 unlock, so it seems like they are having trouble with 4.1/4.2.1/4.3. :(

also need to add that they have discovered Gevey won't work in with 5.0 beta 2 so looks like you won't be able to update to 5.0 unless they can preserve baseband. not known at the moment.

as far as the fake goes depends on how well they cloned/copied the Gevey sim. it's possible it's even manufactured at same place.

The fake ones use a bit more voltage which may harm your iPhone and will decrease your battery life.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_3_3 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/533.17.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.0.2 Mobile/8J2 Safari/6533.18.5)

illegal? This has been gone over hundreds of times. Not illegal, you never even connect the call. Anyways I have a fake one using furiousmod. Don't have to do the 112.
