Hi everyone,

A monitor is likely last on my list of things, but I'm considering it because my current monitor (23" Acer from 2007) is pretty shoddy---I'm a little bit scared for my eyesight. I also haven't experienced anything brand-new yet, as my best iMac is an iMac G5, and my first Intel Mac, a 2009 MacBook Pro that I got in 2012, is my best machine with a built-in screen. Considering that those screens and this Acer are the best screens I have owned, I think it's time to treat my ever-degrading eyes to something nicer.

I'm looking for a brand-new LED monitor that would be perfect for my 2006 Mac Pro (on which I currently use that Acer screen) and, on occasion, my 2009 MacBook Pro; I prefer it to be $150 or under. I'm looking for a nice, 1080p monitor, but NOT something like 4k/5k. I'd like something that is to today's standards (so nothing below 1080p), but not something so advanced that it'll eat away at my wallet.

What is the best brand of 1080p LED monitors for $150 or under? These are the brands available within eBay listings:

-Acer
-ASUS
-BenQ
-Dell
-HP
-LG
-Samsung
-ViewSonic

I have seen Dell to be the best, but their better monitors are usually pretty expensive, and I feel as though the cheaper versions may be cutting corners here and there. From experience, does anyone here know the best monitor brand out of all of these?

Also, is $150 too little to ask for a 1920x1080 monitor?

I am open to any suggestions. Remember that I don't want anything above 24." 20" may be cutting it a bit short, but that would be--at the least--okay with me, assuming I can't get a nice 24" monitor for $150. Thanks!
