Hey guys
I was just wondering I have been doing some research on absinthe jailbreak for ios5. Does that even work that well or is there some other form of jailbreaking for 5.0.1. Since I noticed a lot of you guys have jailbroken iPhones this would really help me out because i am considering jailbreaking mine. I have iOS5 v. 5.0.1. L=

if your iPhone is a 4S...then it is not a "good" idea,,it is a great one.

If you have another iPhone then use Redsn0w ;)

You using an iPhone 4S?

If so, I would definitely go for it. Very easy to do and the jailbreak is beyond awesome! Best thing I've ever done with my iPhone to be honest, can't imagine not using it jailbroken now.

Yea i forgot to mention that but yes i have an iPhone 4S. So absinthe is a good idea? Specifically Absinthe?

The question shouldn't be "should I jailbreak my phone?"

If anything it should simply be "why the hell wouldn't you jailbreak?"

My awesome iPhone 4s would say yes..dew eeeet

Your in the iPhone hack section of course most of us are going to say yes. It's like going on a iPhone forum and asking which is better iPhone or android? You can always try it if you don't life it restore to stock.

heck I bet if you go into the the regular Iphone section people will say "no its not worth it"

Absinthe is your only option to jailbreak the 4S. Don't know how I dealt with a unjailbroken phone for so long. I loved the 4S but I love a jailbroken 4S even more!

Just be careful about which hacks (apps) you install from Cydia. Some can have an adverse effect on battery life due to added functionality. Some won't play nice. Do your research and ask here if you're not sure.

Jailbreaking gives you the ability to add some nice functions and tweaks but just like with your computer you have to be diligent.

I havent really looked into this since Absinthe was first released and was then scared off by all the bugs reported (yes i know, you can always restore).

Would you guys say that most of the bugs have been worked out and only a small minority are reporting problems?

Jailbreak Issues

I have a 4S and an iPad 2. I jailbroke both of them (actually have jailbroken the 4S four different times using Absinthe on my Mac and the CLI tool on Windows). My iPad seems to be fine in the jailbroken state, but my 4S has been nothing but trouble. It will work fine for a day or two, and then problems start popping up, it starts crashing, and finally I have to just restore it.

I gave up on trying to keep it jailbroken. The only things I really wanted were to block some telemarketers that kept calling me, and to trick the phone into thinking I was on WiFi when I was really on 3G to use Facetime and get around the ridiculous 20mb limit on downloads over 3G.

This is my first iPhone, and I've had three android phones that were all rooted. The jailbroken iPhone reminds of a rooted android phone with a buggy ROM installed.

I really wish the 4S was more stable when jailbroken, because I would do it for the fifth time if I thought there was a chance it would work right.

Oh well.

Absinthe working perfectly fine on my 4S no issues at all.. So I gotta think it's something installed on yours. For telemarketers I find if I waste there time they remove me on there own. Sorry it didn't work for you.

Jailbreaking iPhone 5

Hi, is it a good idea to jailbreak a iPhone 5. It was bought in November. Does it void the warrenty? How hard is it to jailbreak?

iPhone 5 isn't jail-breakable.... for now.

Yes, warranty is void but is easily recoverable.

Jailbreaking is very easy and straightforward if previous jailbreaks are anything to go by.
