I'm thinking of buying the above product. Can someone comment on the display differences between the current gen MBPs and the above MBP?

That's a great deal for the price. It's the same LED backlight display at 1440 x 900 with the spiffy 9600M GT. That alone is worth the money.

The current gen MBPs have the 60% more color gamut, which pretty much means it has more vibrance and contrast.

Good call on the refurbished mac, bought my MBP 13" and it was like new when I got it, but without the cool box, definitely a good trade for a few hundred bucks though.
