Console error msgs: apic error and nvda exception?

I have another thread about this problem on my MBP here.

I've been experiencing random freezes on my MBP, and sometimes I would get error messages on Console that say "APIC error on cpu(0)" or something like "NVDA channel exception".

Can anybody tell me what they mean? The techs at the local AASP can't/won't answer my questions, insist that it's a software issue, and that a complete wipe and reinstall of my OS will fix it.
