I am running a macbook with the latest version of iTunes on Snow Leopard.

I want to consolidate my iTunes Library in one folder - chiefly so I can delete files from within iTunes, rather than through Finder. The regular remedy of just letting iTunes consolidate them won't work since I don't have enough disk space to hold the originals and the consolidated copies

My files are in three folders -

1) a very few are in the default iTunes folder.

2) Almost all of the rest are in a folder from my old iTunes on a PC. When I migrated to the mac, I just moved over the mp3 files in their organized folders. I did not copy over my iTunes program files, but just let iTunes on the Mac add them to the new iTunes library by going through the folder and files itself

3) A third folder holds a substantial amount of additional music files, organized in folders, but not organized by iTunes itself, as the second one was via the PC

So I want to consolidate them all on my internal hard drive but I don't have the room to do so, since the iTunes "consolidate" function makes copies, rather than moving the files.

Ideally, I would just like to move all of my files into the default iTunes folder, and tell iTunes to figure it out, but I'm worried that this will just make a mess of things.

Thanks for any help and suggestions you share
