Hi all,

I would like to consolidate and clean up into a single location various folders of photos I have dotted around my HDD. I currently access some through the iPhoto library and would like to copy all my photos into a single "folder" and access them all through iPhoto before deleting the various original folders and freeing up that HDD space. However, before deleting the originals, I want to be sure the photos copied into this new single folder will remain accessible by iPhoto! I have done something similar with my music and iTunes, but the iTunes/preferences/advanced menu enables me to specify clearly where the music is sitting (so I know iTunes can find it), and enables me to automatically "point" the application to that folder when importing new music. However, iPhoto/preferences/advanced does not appear to have the same feature and so it's not clear where on the HDD the photos that iPhoto is accessing are actually sitting. Hence, I don't want to delete the "original" photo folders without being sure where the new (copied) photos are, and being able to continue to access them. Can anyone help me, before I get too impatient and make a horrible mistake?

I have MAC OSX10.6.8 on a Macbook Pro. Thanks,

Karl

Hi folks,

I don't know whether the lack of a response means the question's too difficult/stupid or it's unclear, but in case it's the latter, I thought I'd simply.

In the iTunes/preferences/advanced dropdown menu you are able to specify and modify where newly imported music will stored. The iPhoto/preferences/advanced does not appear to have the same facility in order to specify where newly imported photos will be stored. Can anyone tell me how to do that so that I know where on my HDD the photos will be sitting.

Hope that (a) makes more sense than the earlier attempt to explain the problem, and (b) gets a response or two........

Thanks in anticipation.

Karl
