Hey, been a while since I posted here just needed a break from the Internet for a while. I've been tinkering on-and-off with this 2007 Mac Mini all year and I've noticed that using apps through Rosetta on Tiger or Snow Leopard the sound is always crackly. It occurs at random intervals and varying intensity but it crackles every time. Even loaded up iTunes 3 and it was a horrible experience, seems like using the app aggravates it but even at idle it crackles. Games are affected too.

Was just wondering if anyone else has ever dealt with this issue on early Intel Macs in Rosetta, because it's quite frustrating as this is my main old desktop Mac at the moment. Wonder if there's any fix to this or it's just in the nature of Rosetta on this hardware. I don't ever recall having this issue with my iMacs or MBP.

Hey, glad to have you back!

I have little experience with Rosetta, but first thing that comes to mind, have you tried tweaking the sample rate in the midi utility? I’d also be curious about if you’ve tried both usb and standard audio.

Thanks, it feels like it's been a long time and I'm glad to see most of you are still here. Lots of new faces too, it seems.

I do recall having to change the sample rate in some really early OS X games to get the sounds right, I'll try this out. I'd have to do a bit of digging to pull out my USB audio devices. Easiest would probably be some cheapo USB headsets from a past job.
