Hi,

Ever since I woke my macbook pro up from sleep mode a couple days ago the fans have been constantly audible. This wasn't the case for the first three weeks I had the laptop. I let it sleep for two days then I wake it up and its fans won't turn off. It's even when no apps are on. I checked activity monitor and nothing appears abnormal.
I have the 2012 macbook pro 13in with the i5. Has anyone any clue what I should do? Call apple? Does anyone have a similar scenario themselves? Thanks

Al

Use iStat Pro (free) or iStat Menus ($16) to get accurate readings of your battery, temps, fan speeds and much more.

If your fans are spinning faster than the minimum 2000 rpm and there's no increased heat, try resetting the SMC.

If you do have increased heat:
  1. Launch Activity Monitor
  2. Change "My Processes" at the top to "All Processes"
  3. Click on the CPU column heading once or twice, so the arrow points downward (highest values on top).
  4. Click on the System Memory tab at the bottom.
  5. Take a screen shot of the entire Activity Monitor window, then scroll down to see the rest of the list, take another screen shot
  6. Post your screenshots.
