MacBook Pro 5,4 (2.53 GHz) running Snow Leporard 10.6.7 with 4 Gb RAM
First, my wife's Macbook Pro had a FileVault error where she couldn't log on.
We got it from my Dad (used) and he had enabled File Vault for rhe user account.
I fixed that through the root user account and Disk Warrior, then turned File Vault off.
Now it is constantly going to a grayed screen with a centered black box with a message saying "You must restart your computer..." in multiple languages.
It does this almost every time it is started from the HD or from an external drive. I've tried everything I've found online (RAM is the OEM RAM, but I removed and reinstalled it anyway).
I can't run Disk Warrior on the internal HD because it won't run when I boot from the external hard drive.
All the online chatter says that kernal panics are rare. I guess we are making up for everyone else.
