Constant Random Lag - 10.11.1

Hi,

I updated yesterday to 10.11.1. The machine has had weird lagging, ranging from scrolling in Safari to alt-tabbing between programs. I tried to use activity monitor to discern anything in particular, but I couldn't find anything that could be the culprit.

Anyone have suggestions on what to do?

EDIT: Even making a new tab in Safari will cause a small lag that lasts about five seconds.

It might be Spotlight indexing. Is Activity monitor showing unusually high mdworker or mds use?

If not you might be able to find culprit by checking Console when Mac is lagging. Is there any unusual error messages?
