Hi, I'm new here and I have a really annoying problem.
I bought a Macbook Pro on eBay (the late 2008 unibody model) to replace my 2 1/2 year old one. When Leopard first came out, I bought a retail copy and installed it with no hiccups.
So, I get my new Macbook Pro in the mail and realise something - the guy has reformatted everything for me, and hasn't included the setup disk. I like to do my reformats myself, I get to at least put my own information in and set it all up myself. But I think, no biggie, I have my retail copy. Obviously not so, I get the constant reboot because the drivers are not the same and yadda yadda. I email the guy, he says he "forgot" to include the disk and sends it.
I got the disk today, it's a Mac OS X 10.5 replacement DVD. Not the original one at all, but, I assume it will work because the DVD is copyrighted 2009, and my new laptop is a late 2008 model. I was wrong. It doesn't work. I emailed the guy again, he says it's for the model I have, but that's impossible unless there's something wrong with my mac.
I'm aware there is a thread on this - I know that the disk needs to be newer than the computer, but this one is newer.
Is this normal? Do I need a disk specifically for the Macbook Pro? This is so irritating.
