I have not seen much discussion on this yet, but I am experiencing constant frame dipping and stuttering on my new iPhone 17 Pro. It’s particularly bad when scrolling on white backgrounds such as Safari or Reddit, but also seems to happen when scrolling left to right on the home screens where there’s a widget.

I’m also seeing constant redraw of icons so like when you go into settings, it’ll take a half a second for them to start appearing.

Is anyone else having this issue?

Welcome to iOS26. I had the same choppy and laggy experience on a 17 Pro, on top of the WiFi/Bluetooth issues. Same on my 14 Plus that I sadly updated to iOS26, while my 13Pro has zero issues on iOS 18.7 😞.

No WiFi issues here but I use MLO network.

But yeah the stuttering is rough and it seems to get worst over time. If I do a restart, it briefly stops and then starts again.

I was considering doing a reset and setting up from new, but that is such a pain in the ass. And I’ve not seen anyone say it actually helps.

Yeah ProMotion is trash with iOS 26, it’s better capped at 60hz. Sucks we can’t downgrade the new iPhones.

Also having this issue on my 17 Pro with iOS 26.0.1.

Every animation stutters like crazy. And have had it for a week now so can’t imagine indexing is still an issue.

I’m not sure why more people aren’t talking about this. It’s all over iOS 26 and 26.1. I thought it resolved it but it does not.

My new 1100 dollar device should not lag

My son's 16e actually seems faster on iOS 26 b/c the animations are generally faster. And since it's not smooth anyway (relative to 120hz), it actually seems like an improvement on that phone... ;)

Yep, the same issue with my 17PM. I was thinking maybe it was my tempered glass protector but maybe it’s iOS 26.

Same issue with 26.0.1 and 26.1 Beta 4 for me.

Did you remove the tempered glass to seenif it makes any difference?

I was forced to upgrade my 13 mini to iOS 26 and got some of this stuttering. Thought it was my old hardware.

Got a new Air with an A19 Pro monster chip and was walking down the street yesterday with navigation in Apple Maps. Every time I raised the phone (cool to touch, by the way) to see where to go at a junction, the map display would stutter to update my position at like 3 Hz.

It’s wild that Apple is shipping this sh*t. Maps ran completely smoothly on my iPhone 5 twelve years ago.

Yep, it helped some but I can tell it’s mainly a software issue. I am using it now without a tempered glass protector but I am still getting minor stuttering. I’m going to put the screen protector back on though. I can’t use my phone without one.

I am also using a 17 PM. Encountering stuttering while swiping between home screens AFTER i swipe up on an app. Still existing on Beta 4!

It’s reassuring to know I’m not alone in this. I visited the Apple Store and tried a few of the ones on display, and they were experiencing the same issue. Since it seemed more like a software problem than a hardware one, I decided not to exchange it.

I tested the home screen scrolling after after swiping up on an app to return to the home screen - even on a base 17. the stuttering is there...confirmed a software issue

after updating to iOS 26.0.1 in my iphone 17 PM, my entire phone UI animations is flickering and shuttering while scrolling . I don't know it's a software issue or a hardware issue. As I contacted the Apple backend team online or service center . They told that it's nothing is there, no hardware problem. what is the exact issue going on then?

everything feels like 60hz while scrolling

Have you done a reset all settings? Reboot the phone?

Between my household and my own trying of the recent new devices, we have the following:
  • 13 Mini
  • 15
  • 16e
  • 16
  • 17/17 Pro/Air
All are on 26+ and while there's the occasional jitter (just like there was on 18), there hasn't been anything like what's being described here.

what about scrolling in instagram, facebook and other social media apps even app store, apple tv shuttering/ jitter is present while scrolling

anyone facing the same even after ios 26.1

I only have the stuttering in the watch app on my iPhone 17 pro. But after a few seconds the stuttering stops and it's smooth.
Many have suggested turning of apple intelligence but that doesn't seem to make any difference for me.
