Constant Video Output?

Hey guys! I currently have my old Macbook Pro connected to my A/V receiver via display port to HDMI adaptor. The only problem I have with this setup is that when I switch inputs to different inputs or turn off the receiver the macbook on some occasions will not output video anymore.

So my question: Is there a way to have the macbook constantly output video even when there is not a target device receiving the output?
